TARG 2.0 Presentation
The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) has taken on the leadership role in the process of updating the state’s Child Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and Trafficking Prevention Education Technical Assistance Resource Guide (TARG). With the addition of legislative mandates from the state to provide sexual abuse prevention education in grades K-9 and education on human trafficking in grades 6-12, there’s truly a need for guidance on implementation and best practice for prevention education in our schools and youth-serving organizations.
The review committee - composed of child abuse, exploitation and trafficking prevention education experts, GA Department of Education, DFCS –have reviewed several new prevention education programs to ensure they cover specific topics with the depth and scope outlined in our state mandates and health education standards. Several programs meet the state’s standards and a few programs go beyond the standard and meet best practice in the field. The updated TARG will be widely distributed throughout Georgia, encouraging schools and youth serving organizations to implement prevention education with best practice. Attendees of this session will be the first to receive the TARG 2.0 once it is released later this year.
