Become a Facilitator

Prevention Facilitators

Trainings for individuals interested in becoming facilitators are also available and provide an opportunity for organizations to have a representative receive training in the delivery and support of the Darkness to Light program. Upon completion of the facilitator workshop, participants will be certified to train others using the Darkness to Light program and will have increased knowledge on the creation of organizational policies and procedures.

How to Become a Facilitator

  • Receive sponsorship from a community organization or sign on as an individual
  • Complete workshop registration forms and submit authorization fee of $350 to Georgia Center for Child Advocacy
  • Attend an all-day workshop on how to implement the program
  • Receive a Facilitator manual, a copy of the training workbook and the training DVD

Facilitator Expectations

  • Dedicate quality time and energy to scheduling and facilitating the Darkness to Light program.
  • Have courage and commitment to sexual abuse prevention to increase knowledge and change attitudes about child sexual abuse.
  • Encouraged to train at least 200 individuals per year. Facilitators commit to this number to help reach our goal to train 1 Million GA adults to prevent child sexual abuse by 2020. The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy will support facilitators in doing this.
  • Provide monthly report on the participants that they train to the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy
  • Cooperate with the collection of evaluations for outcome measurements as requested by the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy
  • Provide training materials (Training workbook & 7 Steps booklet) for each person they train. Training materials are $10 per set (quantity discounts are available through the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy). Facilitators are authorized to charge speaking and/or material fees beyond the $10 fee to create a source of revenue.

How does Georgia Center for Child Advocacy support facilitators?

  • Receive organizational child protection policy and procedure guidelines and training on how to use them
  • Receive a monthly newsletter, free continuing education opportunities, and training rewards
  • Have access to program evaluation and promotional tools
  • Receive on-going support through the Darkness to Light website, quarterly meetings and an annual state conference

Facilitator Training dates for 2009/2010

The Facilitator Workshops are from 8:30am-5:30pm and are located at the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy Fulton office unless otherwise announced. Training dates are subject to change, please call to confirm. Registration is required.
