Our Statewide Prevention Initiative

The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy is significantly addressing the epidemic of child sexual abuse through it’s prevention program. The Center’s vision is to train 1,000,000 Georgia adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse by the year 2020 using the Darkness to Light sexual abuse prevention training.

Through Georgia’s Prevention Initiative, the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy aims to educate all adults who have responsibility for children and to integrate the Darkness to Light program into all organizations and institutions where children are being served. The ultimate outcome by 2020 is that all Georgia’s children are in safe environments where they are protected from sexual abuse and can enjoy healthy and happy childhoods.

Darkness to Light Training

The Darkness to Light training curriculum is a revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program developed by a Charleston, SC based nonprofit, Darkness to Light (D2L) and is focused on shifting the responsibility of prevention from children to adults. The one time 3 hour training is approved for CEUs for LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, nurses, lawyers, law enforcement, early childhood education providers, and is approved for professional development hours for teachers.
