Internships
Psychotherapy Practica:
Advanced therapy students who have had some experience providing individual psychotherapy and are currently enrolled in an accredited mental health program may apply for training practica through their respective programs. Students are closely supervised by licensed GCCA clinical staff. Some practicum placements for selected The primary purpose of a practicum placement is for the student to acquire and refine basic clinical skills. Assignment to and work with clients is subject to close preparation and supervision and will include intake, specific therapy interventions, termination, charting, and pre-and post assessment.
Undergraduate Pratica:
Students may apply for practicum experiences focused on research or on enhancing their general understanding of child abuse and community systems and may work in a variety of areas to include research, data collection/analysis, administrative support and various volunteer activities in support of their career goals in the social services field.

Family Advocate Practica:
Advanced social work students will have the opportunity to provide ongoing support, advocacy, and outreach to clients who are involved at the Georgia Center. Other responsibilities include data collection and data entry, assistance in multidisciplinary team meetings, communication with community agencies, and follow-up.

Applicants for intern placement will undergo a screening process to include an interview and criminal background check. Placement will depend upon need and availability.
