Job Title: Development Director

About Us

The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy is a private, non-profit agency that was established in 1987. The Center’s mission is to champion the needs of sexually and severely physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy, and collaboration.

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Development Director to lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts that sustain and grow our mission of protecting children and supporting families.

Position Summary

The Development Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy’s organizational and financial goals. This role will focus on cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners; overseeing special events; and managing grant development. The ideal candidate is a dynamic relationship builder with a proven track record in cultivating donors and nonprofit fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

• Fundraising & Donor Relations
o Develop and execute annual development and fundraising plan with clear goals and metrics.
o Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts, corporate partnerships, and sponsorships.
o Manage donor database and ensure timely acknowledgments and communications. 

• Grants Management
o In coordination with Grants Manager research, write, and submit grant proposals and reports.
o Work with program staff to ensure compliance with grant requirements. 

• Events & Campaigns
o Lead planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
o Collaborate with staff, board, and volunteers to maximize event success. 

• Communications & Marketing
o Seek out opportunities to build awareness of GCCA and our mission.
o Represent GCCA at community events and speaking engagements.
o Partner with staff and volunteers to produce donor-facing materials, newsletters, and social media campaigns.

• Leadership & Strategy
o Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to strengthen a culture of philanthropy.
o Provide regular reports and updates on development goals and progress.
o Collaborate with CEO, Board and other members of the Leadership Team to achieve the organization's strategic goals.

• Human Resource Management
o Provide leadership for the department staff including the Grants Manager and Annual Giving Coordinator, plan and coordinate the work of the fundraising staff including supervision and evaluation, training and team building.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in development and staff management.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios.
  • Strong grant writing and reporting experience.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the mission of protecting children and supporting families.
  • Hiring is contingent upon successful completion of background check.
