Paper Tigers & Resilience Screening

Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Paper Tigers is a film follows a year in the life of Lincoln Alternative High School. Paper Tigers captures the pain, the danger, the beauty, and the hopes of struggling teens— and the teachers armed with new science and fresh approaches that are changing their lives for the better. Lincoln Alternative High School has radically changed its approach to disciplining its students after the principal learned about the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study. Following this screening there will be a group discussion and we will hear from a panel of professionals who have expertise in the field of ACEs.

Resilience: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope is a film that reveals, toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time, and early death. While the broader impacts of poverty worsen the risk, no segment of society is immune. Resilience also demonstrates ways to fight back, chronicling promising beginnings of a national movement to prevent childhood trauma, treat toxic stress, and greatly improve the health of future generations.
