Broken Places Documentary Film Screening
Broken Places explores why some children are severely damaged by early adversity while others are able to thrive. By revisiting some of the abused and neglected children profiled decades ago, we're able to dramatically illustrate how early trauma shaped their lives as adults. Broken Places interweaves these longitudinal narratives with commentary from a few nationally renowned experts to help viewers better understand the devastating impact of childhood adversity as well as the inspiring characteristics of resilience.
The film will be followed by a brief discussion of Adverse Childhood Experiences and programs currently being implemented in Georgia to offset the effects of childhood trauma.

Connections Matter Georgia
The Connections Matter Georgia initiative is a collaboration between the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and Prevent Child Abuse Georgia focused on effectively educating communities about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, and resiliency. The Connections Matter Workshop is an interactive discussion0based program that can be taken in either two days (2 hours each day) OR one day (4 hours) via virtual Zoom format.
Every day connections are more important than we ever believed. Science tells us that relationships have the power to shape our brains. Relationships help us learn better, work better, parent better. When we experience tough times, they help us heal. With each connection, we develop a healthier, stronger community. Connect Now provides an overview of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study and a glimpse into Connections Matter Georgia, a more in-depth, in-person training designed to engage community members in building caring connections to improve resiliency, prevent childhood trauma, and understand how our interactions with others can support those who have experienced trauma.
Espectadores Que Protegen a Los Niños Del Abuso Sexual

Resilience Documentary Film Screening
Resilience: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope the film reveals, toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time, and early death. While the broader impacts of poverty worsen the risk, no segment of society is immune. Resilience also demonstrates ways to fight back, chronicling promising beginnings of a national movement to prevent childhood trauma, treat toxic stress, and greatly improve the health of future generations.
