X-WR-CALDESC:The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) has taken on the
leadership role in the process of updating the state’s Child Sexual Abuse\
, Exploitation and Trafficking Prevention Education Technical Assistance R
esource Guide (TARG). With the addition of legislative mandates from the s
tate to provide sexual abuse prevention education in grades K-9 and educat
ion on human trafficking in grades 6-12\, there’s truly a need for guidanc
e on implementation and best practice for prevention education in our scho
ols and youth-serving organizations. \n\nThe review committee - composed
of child abuse\, exploitation and trafficking prevention education experts
\, GA Department of Education\, DFCS –have reviewed several new prevention
education programs to ensure they cover specific topics with the depth an
d scope outlined in our state mandates and health education standards. Se
veral programs meet the state’s standards and a few programs go beyond the
standard and meet best practice in the field. The updated TARG will be wi
dely distributed throughout Georgia\, encouraging schools and youth servin
g organizations to implement prevention education with best practice. Att
endees of this session will be the first to receive the TARG 2.0 once it i
 s released later this year.
